The new construction work has commenced on both the South District rental buildings and North District rental buildings, with temporary shoring work progressing. The ground has been excavated to 20m underground at the deepest section, under plans to construct buildings with 2-3 floor basements.
So as to carry out safe excavation work avoiding impact on the surrounding environment, at present, work is under way using 11 pieces of specialized machinery at peak, in order to construct an earth-retaining wall stretching to a depth of 30-40m beneath the earth. (Following below-ground excavation work, the wall is constructed from a mixture of cement, water and soil reinforced with steel).
