Umekita 2nd Project Development State of Construction vol. 2

The piling work on both the South District rental buildings and North District rental buildings is progressing. Piles will support buildings that stretch from 3rd basement to 39th floor in the section with the most floors, so they must be safe against earthquakes, wind and other natural forces, as well as the actual weight of the building. For that reason, excavation for piles is carried out to a depth of 48m beneath the earth, down to solid ground, which is roughly equivalent to the height of a 10-floor building, and the buildings are supported by multiple reinforced concrete piles of 3.8m in diameter. The piling work is advancing using eight units of specialist machinery at peak.
Also, excavation work has started in the areas where piling is complete. The below-ground excavation is complete for some of the low-rise buildings, and there are places where foundation work has begun. Since both districts’ rental buildings have complicated structural shapes, construction is progressing using various methods depending on each part of the structural shape.
